Oh, my sides. This is achingly funny and sweet and also, cracked the fuck out. They all develop superpowers in a totally non-spontaneous way, but because it's MCR, it's still weird as all hell. Short, funny, and delightful. There is a recurring theme of nerdfaces.
Now, okay, you have laughed yourself silly over that, I present to you, a recurring theme in this journal, ( Gerard Way and his boyfriends, in (unflattering) pictures and (mean) words. )
I imagine irony is buckets of fun. Even John Nolan has to facepalm. Yeah, this is something of a GIP, if only so I can note how versatile John is. He's my new default icon, and he can be shame, humor, drunkenness, bandom, silliness, drama, and mocking everything ever. I imagine if I ever wrote something heartbreakingly serious and earnest, I would probably use this icon. Oh John.
This is mainly to distract myself from the fact that I just had a very long conversation about what John Sheppard, Ronon Dex and Rodney McKay call their respective penises. My brother and I decided thusly:
John Sheppard, "whoops, how did my penis get there?" calls his Jodie. Because he needs ladies near him at all times, to affirm his heterosexuality. He has to take her out for walks sometimes, because it is very hot, in his pants. Ronon Dex says this, when he wants to pull, "I'm Ronon, and this is the Killinator." Rodney hasn't named his penis; he calls it "Samantha Carter," sometimes, though.
And I manage, once again, to be COMPLETELY disturbing.
ETA, 8:03 pm I have NO idea what I am saying in this post. Perhaps I had a plan? There is something going on here, but hell if I can figure out what it is. This is totally an argument for the fact that yes, I can post while drunk and high, but, no, I cannot actually make any sense at all. Well. Less sense than usual. I should maybe stop doing that.

I want all the Teal'c fic in the world, after that, because, fifty years! Side-splittingly hilarious things, heartbreaking things and just, so many things must have happened, and he can't say any of it. It would be angst, but I think Teal'c is too cool for angst school, so he'd just reflect. (and laugh a lot, whenever Daniel and Vala totally failed to get together, or when Mitchell lost at stick-fighting, or when Sam's eyes lit up when they passed a music store. well, okay, that last one might be a little sad.)
I got bitten by a plotbug, whoops. Also, ha, I am cute when I thought that this would be funny.

I love this. Romantic and charming. At first it's a fairytale parody, but it ends up sweet and wonderful. I like sap, okay? It's good. It makes me forget that there's never going to be any new SG-1. I love Cameron Mitchell, I love Teal'c, and my love grows exponentially with every moment I think about this story. Daniel is the long-suffering guide, and they have to vanquish the staff-weapon curse. And there is goodness!
I just wrote this up, and I am trying not to sob horribly over the way that the show just ended. Um. That's a rotten excuse.

To get all my fandoms in, I'll mention that I've chatted about Highlander a fair bit offline this week. And I saw Star Wars again. Obi-Wan: Qui's boyfriend, terrible dresser, general hotass, Jedi dude, and back-alley abortionist. That's all I'm saying. Plus, it's a lot funnier the second time around.

Okay! I should be better with updating, but you know how it is...ooh, shiny!
Anyway, I am lazy. We're going to have a list here, today.
1. Like, how much can I not wait for s9, and July? Like, A LOT. 'Cause I disrupted dinner plans and stuff to watch my 'gates, and, aiee. SO much aiee. Time-switchy! Jack being a smartass! Lots and lots of screaming people! Even the 'OMG, so doomed, you ever seen Buffy and Angel, producer people' Sam and Jack did not pain me that much. If only 'cause Jack thought Daniel was all...anyway. LOVE, like so much. And then 'lantis! Damm cliffhanger, and I really liked the Genii thing, 'cause Elizabeth had to do something good, and then Doggett's old buddy and, oh. McKay was so perfectly bitchy, and all 'off to the Geek Cave!' and Beckett was all darling and white-shirted and Ford was wonderfully smiley, and oh. Just oh!
I think that might have been better than sex. Not that I have anything to compare it to.
2. No, really, it was like a gift from the gods, or something.

You have effectively killed all of my favorite characters (Jonas, Janet and Jacob) and have relentless Jack/Sam. I couldn't stand it on WAT, and I'm damn welll not going to stand for it now. Sure, I hate Pete, but. Jack/Sam! Producer people, are you out of your minds?
Seriously.
This reminded me of a late-season X-Files episode. What with the stupid het, and the pat ending (which, okay, I'll admit, was clever, and Daniel and the Anicent coffee klatch was also clever) X-Files also sucked when it got to this point.
*howls in agony*
My show is being all fucky! I'd like seasons five through seven, again, please.
Maybe Teal'c and Daniel can go establish a clothing-optional commume, next season, and Jonas, and a reanimated Janet and Jacob can drop by, and be all 'hah, Jack and Sam? Please!' And they can drink a lot of beer, and have really cool architecture, and lots of sex. My AU's often feature drinking and sex, don't they? Oh! I know, then the casting spoiler can drop by, and Teal'c and Jonas can flip out, because, holy crap, there's two Daniels!

Yo, ho, ho. I have things to say! ooh, shiny and unusual.
housefic Like, how much do I love this? Like, a lot. House MD, I swore I'd never get hooked on it, and while sporadic tv watching means that I...haven't, really, it is still so OMGsquee! And good fic, yo. Feel like you've been missing the snark since Krycek...was not and O'Neill got a desk job? House is so your man, and the fandom's got some really excellent fic.
The aliens that Daniel met in Prometheus Unbound? They're the same aliens as the teleporting dudes who never seem to die on Andromeda. I have been worrying this for a while. So, in addition to trading actors around (casting spoliers!) they're also trading coustumes? Good on you, thrifty televison people.
Why in god's name would anyone think that The Next Generation is the best Trek? Why, why, oh why? Yes, well, Q is on it, but he's way unamusing with Picard. Comparativley. I love Q, but even he cannot save TNG.
So, after coming home from the musical, Merrily We Roll Along and ai, for those of you that know it? So pushing the Mary/Charlie, because I am an incorrigible 'shipper, yay. Anyway, it was most excellent. Soon as I got home? My brother pulled me in front of the tv, in time for Stargate in two flavors. And he listened while I talked about wanting to be Ba'al, which is something I talk about at great length, and it is boring. Such good episodes, tonight. Reckoning, Part Two was a great 'blow shit up" episode, though I'm hoping Daniel was not...blown up. Letters from Pegasus had Bates and Ford in. And Beckett! So much love, so very very much.

Ohman, tv watching spree of Thursday and Friday? So good, so very very good.

I'm hopelessly shallow. I was reading this history of the OED, by Simon Winchester, and this is the kind of book where you keep the dictionary out to understand what he's going on about, and there's pictures of some of the guys who kickstarted the process. So, I see one of them, and am all gooey, for he's kinda cute. And then I learn that he died of pneumonia when he was just thirty-one, and am all 'ooh, a Byronic hero, I wonder if he wore a turban. Turbans are sexy.'
So the depths of my shallows have been plunged. Hahaha. Now, to go onto my other charms. Like, oh, my juvenility, (hah, not a real word. I don't think so, anyway) and fun stuff like that.
Recs at some point. When I'm not spinning around in my chair, smiling in a drippy way over the Pretty. See, I do objectification! I'm one of those really shallow people your mother warned you about. So, theory. Gil Grissom (from CSI) and Fox Mulder (Okay, that one should be obvious, but, yes, from X-Files) are actually the same person! I'm not quite sure how I could hack this, but...there's so much that's similar! The insane attention to detail! The total lack of interpersonal skills! The inabilty to tell when someone attractive and brunette is flirting with you!
Really. I'm sure I could figure out someway to explain this. I really, really can!

So. I ought to be doing a lot of things, some fannish, some not. (a twenty says the fannish things'll get done first. gay porn vs bio work? duh. Porn, porn, all the way. Oh what fun it is to ride in a porny, porny sleigh. Oh god, someone stop me now.)
Mainly...there was a point, oh, gosh.
Ooh! I know! I broke my New Year's Resolution! One of them, anyway. To stop mooning over pretty, and fictional, characters. Not being one for doing things by half, it is unabashed glee re: Pretty Characters. And also, it would seem, really crappy fic with bad light metaphors. Oh damn, for the love of all that is holy, I am not writing Jonas Quinn/Seamus Harper. No! Not doing the SG-1 and Andromeda thing. And the painful light metaphors would just be...so very bad.
Anyway, I plead for recipes, Beckett-fic (still on the SG-A kick) and...oh yes, a brain. To remember that I ought to post fics up. Yepyep.

But, honestly, there's some good Beckett here, 'cause for once, he gets to be the smart and commanding presence. Also, man. Ford. I fail to see a downside. So, yes, I am horrendously spoiled, fanfiction wise. I checked out some of my old fandom haunts, and holy crap. I got standards now! And you can ignore the grammatical problems inherent in that sentence. Thank you very much.
I've had this recent obsession with Jonas Quinn. Okay, yeah, I know, he usurped Daniel on SG-1, but come on. Pretty, and if we can't easily transfer our affections around for the prettiest boy, then well, we're not the collection of slatterns that we seem. Or, um. Something less derogatory? Er, yeah. Fen are easy, though. Plus? Umm...I did have something to say besides 'ooh, pretty!' This site's got loads of fic, a pretty banner (look, pretty! look, brighty is shalllow!) but not so much in the way of resources. Well, you can't have everything.
So, like, somewhere along this road that I'm on, (and wow, is it getting hotter?) I discovered that The West Wing was an actual fandom. And a good one to boot. And I mean, is there a purer example of the good that can come from the subtext? The whole staff seemed to be on the verge of jumping each other, and wow, they did a good job of running the country, and stuff. Proof that sex will, indeed, make this country better. And, yes, now you can start with the campagain slogans now.
I am aware that I'm phenomenally stupid.
1.Must find more Ford fic. 'lantis, you have tempted me with the Beckett/McKay. And, I, being a greedy woman, need Ford fic now. Yes, I know, I'm the only person who likes him.

So, yes. I liked this evening's "Andromeda" if only for the fact that I could scream out, loudly, "Rodney! RODNEY! Save your boyfriend! Save him!" and pretend like I was watching Atlantis.
Point. Which Rodney is hotter? McKay or...whatever his last name is? Basically, it comes down to Canada vs. Leather Coat of Doom. I mean, talk about not wanting for choice when it comes to my SciFi friday perving. (Plus! Dylan was still being snarky as hell, and wearing the 'god, I am sexy, don't you all want me' leather pants. This show seems to have a fascination with leather, does it not?)
And they're all alive ! Haha! I know you too well, Roddenberry!!!! (Yes, even my punctuation is declining!) You'd not kill off the crew! At least, not all at the same time.

Okay, we all know I am a bit obsessed with various sci-fi and fanstasy books/movies/tv shows. Right, maybe "bit" is the wrong adjective. They've totally taken over my brain. In a sort of "haha, we rule your thoughts" kind of way.
So, after doing lots of my usual geeking out over the supernatural and alien life forms, I got down to reading some serious fic here. I'm talking several hours uninterrupted reading time with Angel, Farscape, Stargate (of both flavors), Andromeda, Star Trek, Firefly, Buffy, Discworld, Lord of the Rings, and Hellboy. Among others. Yes, I am a fandom junkie. But I am not going to confront that issue right now.
So, I figure, "hey, I haven't read any music fic in ages. that should be fun!" (Yes, my brain speaks in all lower-case letters. It's, um, my brain, I get to pick these things.) I get my little self over to FD.net, and decide to pick in on the Alkaline Trio section. First off, there's seventy- seven stories there now. Damn. Right, so I pick an innocuous looking one, and start reading.
Right, so someone in this story is opening a door, or something requiring them to get up, unlock it and that sort of thing. However, the first thing I think of is:
"Oh my! It's totally going to be a slime hurling demon/skin devouring monster/evil monster that kills gods/a banana wielding maniac! Save yourself! Get a gun/zat/stake/wand out now!" (I said this. Out loud. Trust me, it's amusing to hear me try to say this quickly.)
I read further. It's the main character's girlfriend, coming to ask if he's ready for their date. She is not hiding the Forces of Evil under her skirt. I am assured of this, for the author mentions that it is a short skirt. With polka dots. (I'm not actually sure about this point. My brain was still reeling.)
It's not a vampire/goa'lud/evil eyeball/power crazed wizard/creepy paranormal government guy/alien hell bent on revenge?
Couldn't she be hiding a small demon on her person? It would make me feel much more comfortable. Just a little imp or something?
I mean, I'm having issues going back to "Damn, we're locked out. I must have left the key inside" from "I can kill you. With my hair. And use your skull in a potion to cripple evil dudes." Anyone else have this problem? I can't be alone!

Hah, I have work that I should be doing. I really should be doing it. But first...yesterday was a Friday, and after hanging about with some friends, I went and watched "Stargate." Of both varieties.
( The bit that everyone can skip over. )
That was exceedingly useless. And there's only one episode left in the season! Although the time- slot is going to be taken over by "Andromeda." Which is the show that has been created by stealing my brainwaves. Seriously. Roddenberry hacked into my brain, and lifted this out. Which is not a bad thing at all.
